Rollercoaster

We call the insurance adjuster and don't hear back...and we're frustrated! Then our check comes from the mortgage company, so we can pay the contractor...and we're ecstatic! Go out to check progress and there is none...even more frustrated! Meet with the contractor and hear that things will be starting in the next couple of days...excited again! The bad part is that there's no getting off this emotional rollercoaster ride. As patient and level headed as you try to be, it wears you down.

Our biggest news is that we did meet with the estimator and discussed things we want to change (like getting rid of all of those %$!*# soffits) and he said our lumber package should be arriving (and thus work should be starting) soon. (now, that was last Tuesday and we still have nothing there...and so the coaster goes) We also have started on our kitchen design. It was amazing to watch this guy with only graph paper, a ruler, and a pencil lay out the space I will get to call my kitchen. It is going to be beautiful, and I can't wait to be there cooking in it.

It's not just the grown-ups riding this coaster either. Robbie had his first big breakdown about missing his house, his room, his stuff. He didn't feel well, and I think he had just lost his ability to look on any bright side. He just wanted his own bed. We had a good talk, and he's an amazing boy. He really is trying, just like the rest of us, to be positive and patient. But sometimes, that patience wears thin and you just miss your bed.

We've found some inspiration from an unlikely source, though. Mary Tyler Moore said, "You can't be brave if you've only had wonderful things happen to you". Smart lady, that Mary.
