We're really pleased with the brick. Joe, our contractor, had 3 samples from which to choose...but they all sort of looked the same to us, so we let him pick! By the end of the week, it's looking like all of the masonry will be complete! (this pic was actually taken on Monday).
And then the bad news...the B vent for the hot water heater was being flagged and causing us to not pass HVAC inspection. They say it had too steep of an angle on it, which would be ok, but it's the angle it had before and code hasn't changed! So, to keep things rolling (and to keep the B vent from having to be routed through the roof on the front of the house) we are purchasing a high efficiency hot water heater. The B-vent in question has been removed and everyone should be happy.
Here's hoping the end of the week will also bring passed inspections so work can proceed!
